A Clinico-Microbiological Study of Blood Stream Infections in a Tertiary Referral Hospital: Colistin Resistance & Challenges

چکیده

Carbapenems, frequently used for the treatment of infections caused by Multidrug-resistant (MDR) Gram-negative bacteria (GNB) are being reported with increased resistance rate. Colistin other antibiotics has emerged as a saviour but inappropriate reporting colistin susceptibility is serious clinical concern. To detect antimicrobial GNB isolates obtained from blood samples, further, Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) testing carbapenem-resistant was done Broth Micro-dilution Method (BMD). This prospective study in Department Microbiology January 2020 to December 2020. The isolated samples were identified & antimicrobial-susceptibility performed Vitek 2 system. MIC BMD method. data statistically analysed using SPSS 21. Growth 5% and 546 (75.8%) these including predominantly E.coli, Klebsiella spp Acinetobacter spp. Carbapenem-resistant 246 (48.5%) showed significant association ICU admission, classes mortality. Among isolates, only seven (2.9%) found resistant test. Most (71.4%) patients (85.7%). All intermediate sensitive VITEK-2 characterized MDR 323 (59.2%), XDR 164 (30%) PDR (0.4%). Use of, colistin, should be guided BMD, reference method avoid erroneous resistance.

A clinico-microbiological study of diabetic foot ulcers in an Indian tertiary care hospital.

OBJECTIVE To determine the microbiological profile and antibiotic susceptibility patterns of organisms isolated from diabetic foot ulcers. Also, to assess potential risk factors for infection of ulcers with multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs) and the outcome of these infections. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS Pus samples for bacterial culture were collected from 80 patients admitted with diabe...
